People choose the glass to use as building glass, not only focus on its artistic aesthetic characteristics, but also consider its thermal insulation, energy costs, light pollution problems and the projection of sunlight comfort & balance and so on. Therefore, the new glass materials appear one after another, with excellent heat insulation and good transparency of the new material - Low-E glass.

Low-E glass, low emissivity glass, is a film-based glass that is coated with multiple layers of metal or other compounds on the glass surface.
Compared with ordinary glass materials, Low-E glass has excellent thermal and optical properties. By coating the surface of the transparent glass plate with a metal film, such as a silver-based low-emissivity film, the heat loss due to radiation from the room to the outside can be greatly reduced, thus ensuring the indoor thermal comfort balance. Low e glass does not only save heating caused by consumption of fuel, but also slowed down the greenhouse effect due to carbon dioxide emissions. 
In addition, Low E glass has same good transmission in visible light range as ordinary glass. Shortwave in sun light through glass, the exposure to the indoor objects. Once heated, these objects will re-radiate as long waves. These long-wave radiation will block by the Low-E glass and thus returned to the room, but also reduce the indoor heat loss purposes. No matter how much the temperature difference between indoor and outdoor, using low-E glass will be able to achieve the ideal situation of cool in Summer and warm in Winter.

However, unlike ordinary glass, Low-E glass has a low reflectivity, which ensures good lighting in the interior of the building without causing adverse effects of light pollution on outdoor pedestrians due to light reflection. Thus Low-e glass can reduce the probability of traffic accidents.
